Job Type: Part Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Position Summary: The Job Site Helper is an entry-level position that provides essential support to our production team on residential remodeling projects. This role is crucial for maintaining efficient, clean, and safe job sites. The Job Site Helper will work directly under the guidance of a Lead Carpenter or Project Director, gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of residential construction. Key Responsibilities:
- Job Site Preparation & Cleanup:
- Assist with setting up and breaking down job sites, including laying down protective coverings, organizing tools, and ensuring materials are ready for use.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site throughout the day by sweeping, clearing debris, and disposing of trash and waste materials appropriately.
- Help load and unload tools, equipment, and materials.
- Perform basic demolition tasks safely and efficiently under supervision.
- Material Handling & Management:
- Receive, inspect, and organize material deliveries on site.
- Move materials to designated areas, ensuring they are protected and accessible.
- Monitor material levels and communicate needs to the Lead Carpenter or Project Director.
- Tool & Equipment Maintenance:
- Keep tools and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order.
- Identify and report any broken or malfunctioning tools to the Lead Carpenter or Project Director.
- Learn proper use and care of various hand and power tools.
- General Project Support:
- Assist Lead Carpenters and Project Directors with various tasks as needed, which may include holding materials, measuring, cutting (under supervision), and basic assembly.
- Run errands, pick up supplies, or deliver materials to job sites.
- Assist with the protection of client property and belongings during the remodeling process.
- Safety Adherence:
- Learn and strictly follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Identify and report any potential safety hazards on the job site.
- Communication & Teamwork:
- Communicate effectively with Lead Carpenters, Project Directors, and other team members.
- Be punctual, reliable, and maintain a positive, respectful attitude.
- Actively listen and follow instructions to ensure tasks are completed correctly and efficiently.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- No prior construction experience is required; we are looking for someone with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
- Reliability & Punctuality: Must be dependable and arrive on time consistently.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying materials (up to 50 lbs) for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Eagerness to Learn: A genuine desire to learn construction skills and grow within the remodeling industry.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions carefully and ensure tasks are completed accurately.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with others.
- Safety Conscious: A basic understanding of or willingness to learn and adhere to safety protocols.
- Communication: Basic verbal communication skills to understand instructions and report progress or issues.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid California Driver's License and a clean driving record preferred, as travel between job sites may be required.
